Such a Wonderful Week!

We have such cute kitties here at the ranch.  We hit the jackpot when we adopted these 2 little kittens.  Trampas, the orange one has turned into the little lover of the two.  He wants to be with you where ever you are.  He takes such cute pics and is wonderful with our little grandson and just loves to be petted. Neither of the kitties have ever tried to scratch him and they are so gentle with them.

Work on the shooting Berm has really come along since last week.  Brent did a lot of work on it Saturday and was able to get the front part all covered up and then broke the ground up in the front of it. We then seeded it with some ground cover.  The back part still needs to be covered up, but that can wait for a few weeks.
He had a little help from Fred and Betsey was helping also by chasing the Cottontail rabbits up and down the berm.

More work was also done on the pond and it is almost ready for the liner.  Most of the dirt that was dug out yesterday when to filling in the area between the house and shop.  It is one of the spots that when we received a lot of rain would flood.

The new area that was plowed up and planted with greens for the rabbits is coming up wonderful.  This plot is seeded in bags of Deer Plot mix.  There is also a part of the area where the ducks use to go at night that we seeded in Chicory, Turnips and alfalfa.

The outside rabbit yard has been eaten down pretty well and has been reseeded in rye grass and some other seeds .  There is not that many out there right now so it should have a good chance of coming up.  We have been mowing down the old food plot in the field but left a little out there fore Billy and the ducks to munch on.

We ended up with 4 very cute babies last week.  They are going to be such cute chicks by looking at the colors of the feathers that are starting to come out.  We have the incubator full and going again. Hopefully this time we will get a better hatch.

Our grandson loves to go out and see the ducks and the rabbits.  Today he was trying to walk up to the ducks but they just kept running from him.  He loves animals just like his daddy does.

With some cooler days and much cooler nights it makes me think of fall coming on.  I can't wait to see what is in store for the Ranch. Some fall color in some trees? What the tall prairie grass will look like?  just more to look forward too. I have several fall mums planted and also have the pumpkins that are growing in our garden.  The chickens and the rabbits will be happy.

My little pond has been home to a lot of frogs here the last few days.  The day I took this pic. I counted 34 and that is all I could see.  Big ones, little ones.  All I know is that when we were in town I always wanted to have frogs in my pond. Never had one.  Now too many, lol.

Until Next week,

A wonderful, Fun Week!

Never thought of myself as a fan of taking sunset or sunrise pictures, until we moved out here. That very first one I took after we signed the papers all started something.  It's like in the evening i have to go out at sunset just to see what it is going to look like. Most of the time I end up snapping at least 1-2 pics of it.

I don't seem to be out and about in the mornings when the sunrises , so don't get a lot of pics.  I did however get these two this past week.  When I take one I really like I post it on our news channels Face book page.  They will take pics from their page and will show one on the news and a shout out to the person that posted it.  The first one with the kitty in it made the news.  Trampas the kitty is now famous, lol

We have some new members here at 2 Moores Ranch this morning.  The eggs in the incubator are starting to hatch.  These are the first 2.  There are several more eggs that have pips in them right now.   Hoping for a good hatching from this run.  Trying to get a head start on spring with growing some out this fall.

About a week ago we noticed that one of our turkey hens was running off at dusk after eating.  Finally the other day I walked around looking everywhere and finally found her on a nest with 4 turkey eggs and 2 guinea eggs in some tall weeds by the barn.   Cant wait to see what she hatches out.
Here is the mob waiting for us to come out of the shop to feed them.  They kept coming up to the door looking in to see if they could get us to come out and feed them.  They are all so crazy.  But walk out the door and you have to watch where you step because they will trip you up by walking under your feet.

Billy has got to get out of his cage of confinement. He is out loving his freedom of running all day.  His picture below was taken on a cool foggy morning. We had just let him out and he had already run from the back of the barn all the way up to the back yard.

The babies out in the rabbit barn are so funny and cute.  These nesting boxes are on top of Pablo's cage.  They have to jump from the floor up on top of another cage, then to Pablo's and then into the boxes.  Guess they don't want to sleep on the ground.  Silly little bunnies.

This past week I have been doing some canning.  Had some pears needing to be put up and finally got them done.   I have really enjoyed putting food up for our use later in the year.  It is so much fun.

They pears were cut up and canned in a syrup mixture.
The Spaghetti Sauce I made came from tomatoes out of our garden. Herbs were all from my herb garden also.  We already had a jar and it was yummy!

These were peas that I bought at the Farmers Market on Saturday morning. Got them all shelled yesterday and then today canned them.  I was a little nervous at first, but once I got the canner all set up and going I set my nerves aside.

Brent was able to get all the trees that we have cut or pulled down on the shooting berm.  Now all that is needed to be done is to start digging the pit and putting the dirt up on the top.  We have ordered some ground cover to plant on it to help keep it all in place.

Until next week ,

Busy, Busy Week With Some Beauty From God!

Work, work, work!   This past week we have taken down 3 dead trees.  Lots of work but sure worth the effort.  We are able to use some of it for firewood this winter. The rest is going out on the shooting berm. There is still some dead limbs in trees and one tree in the very back that will be coming down also.

This tree had to have a little help in coming down.

One firewood stand full , so had to build another one.

This part of the front yard has been an eye sore.  It seemed to be a large flower bed.  It was full of grass and weeds and not an easy chore. Friday afternoon it got a good watering.  Saturday morning my mom and I got out there and started hoeing , tilling and digging.  With some help from Brent, my dad and the kitties, this is the finish product ,after a load of mulch covering up card board boxes.  Iris' in the back, then roses and in the front a Rose of Sharon. In the far front corner there is a Colorado Blue Spruce.
On each side of the porch there are spring bulbs planted and in the square bed in the front planted more Iris and spring bulbs.
With it all cleaned up , we have a cute little sitting area out front now. The front porch rails have been fixied up and can now be use without fear of them falling over.

In the bunny barn there is a mob of buns on the floor again.  Hard to count, but I think there is like between 25-30 on the floor.  Some will be moving to the outside yard soon.
We have a few that like to jump up on the top of a few cages and sleep in the nesting boxes. We go out   there will be 2 or 3 in them sleeping.

Bunny bunk bed.

Now that's a lot of food out there.  It's feeding time for the flock.  They all eat around 7:30 in the evening.  It's a mad rush to see who can get the food first and you better stay out of their way.

That's a lot of fluffy butt's .  That's hen's with real fluffy feathers on their back side.  It's hard to get good pics of them, but that night I was able to get a few.

There has sure been a lot of wonderful sunset pics this past week.  Just in the right place at the right time for them I know . But wow.  God sure did bless us with this place and being able to see them.

Until Next week,
