New Bunnies and Trees!

Hello all.  Been a busy week on the farm.  There is another new litter of babies out in the Rabbit barn.  Looks like we have at least 6 new New Zealand babies.  Puts us up too 12 or a few more in the past week.

Our little Rex grow out Bugs as the kids have named him is turning into a very handsome rabbit.  Sure hope we will be able to get more tans.

The ducks with a little coaxing are starting to explore more of the yard.  We have moved their small pools out into the yard.  The last two days they have even been out by the rabbit barn. The turkeys just go where ever they want to and roost where ever they want too.

We decided to get  some new trees to plant. We bought 4 Weeping Willows to plant for the rabbits to eat.  They will also make some good shade trees when they get bigger.  This pic was taken when Brent was pulling into the drive with 4 trees flapping in the breeze.

This is what we run into in the afternoons when we come home.  They are putting up a large wind farm off hwy  287.  Glad it is over there.   When we started seeing all the parts over by the power plants we were worried it was going up by us.

Until next week.

New Members to the family and new signs!!

The entrance to the 2 Moores Ranch and BamBamHolsters.com is official. A young man who has been getting holsters made , made our signs for us. Saturday he and his father came out and put them up.  I missed all the ta do, but Bam Bam took some pics for me. They look great. Thank you so much guys,

We have 1 new litter of babies in the Rabbit Barn.   Hershey our little unexpected baby from Our Rex we bought last fall had 6 on the 14th.  They are the cutest little babies and they look like they may be black.
I had some Bell Peppers from the Bountiful Basket I bought 2 weeks ago and gave them to the rabbits. They love them.  I am going to try and grow some this year for them to eat.

We have 9 new additions to the poultry barn.  7 Guineas and 2 baby chickens.   There will be more this coming weekend when my parents come.  They are bringing us several more Hens to add to the layers.
The chickens are really enjoying getting to roam all the time.  The have their favorite spots to go to and the trees at the back of the house is the favorite.  Lots of shade and plenty of stuff to scratch in.
Robin, seems to have recovered nicely from all her problems and is even starting to beg for food while we are eating again. Been awhile since she has done that.  We are sure happy she is feeling better.
This past week had several storms around the area.  Several of them went around us. But, Thursday we finally got some rain and also some hail.  We were lucky. It was only pea size so no damage.  Right now I am sitting in the living room and my feet are cold.  It is very windy and 58 outside. Oh well. Before too long we will be want some cool days.

     Until next week.

Oh the surprise of it all!

One of the reason we liked this place was because of all the trees that were out here.  Some Pines, Cedars, Elms, along with an apricot, 3 Mulberry trees, an Honey Locust, A Chinese Lantern tree, 2 spirea bushes, 14-15 Lilacs in 3 colors and several others we still dont know what they are.

 Honey Locust tree
 Mulberry
This is one of the unknown trees.  Looks like it is getting flowers on it also.

The ducks and turkeys are growing so fast. In another few weeks the turkeys will be in with the chickens. The turkeys are liking it up away from everyone else.  The 4 white ducks are just about all feathered out.  They are so pretty and the Welsh Harlequin are slow at getting their feathers but are getting really pretty also.  It does look like we will be having more males than females.
The grow outs in the rabbit barn are really getting big and fat.  They will only be with us for another few weeks and then the grow outs in the pen will take their place on the floor.  WE have nesting boxes in 7 cages right now with everyone due on the 12th. Going to be busy here if everyone has kits.
When we bought this place we were told that the land around us was leased out to ranchers for cattle. Well, they have arrived. Last night they wanted to know everything i was doing.
A few nights ago we had a few clouds and made for a really pretty picture.  This was taken looking NE from out house.

I haven getting some flowers planted. I have 2 Knock out Roses. One is looking very pretty.  The other is still trying .  Also planted 5 Blue Bonnets. There is also an Hollyhock coming up from the other people.

WEll , until next week.  Here is a pretty Sunset from early in the week.

Clean-up......... Oh My!

Thursday Mr. 2Moores was home early so we started doing some clean up around the 2Moores Ranch.  There was a lot of low hanging branches and shrubs that needed pruning so we can see what is under therm   You know, SNAKES!!!!  W hen we were done with our part,  the rest of the clean up crew came in to do their part. They sure had fun.

We had already cleaned up 2 evergreen bushes and some limbs off a tree and took all that stuff out to the shooting berm we are building.  Was working on another evergreen and Mr. 2Moores was laying on the ground when I saw something move.  Was too surprised to yell. I said, snake, Snake, SNAKE!  Before he could shoot it , into an old tree stump it went.  Went and got a pick axe and tore it up. Still no snake.  So while he was working on another bush I was raking up all the dead wood. When it started moving.  That time I YELLED , S N A K E !!!!!!    Needless to saw it is the best kind of snake now.   Oh not a rattler.    It was under the bush to the right of hm in the pic. This was actually taken before we saw it the second time.
A few more bushes got the axe, well chain saw today.  One we think is an Chaste tree.
I think I have identified 3 Salt Cedar and as they are water drinkers, they are going.  One came down today.
We also trimmed up several of the cedar trees on the north side of the house. In total we hauled off 4 trailer loads of limbs today. This one was the last and we still are no where near finished. There are also several dead trees that need to come down.

Two sets of little bunnies have been moved to the grow out pen.  They sure love all the new room and the mommies love all the extra room they have and also not having to share their food.

The bigger grow outs sure do enjoy having run of the rabbit barn.  We have moved the hay out of reach of them and now when feeding if
you put the tub down on the floor they are all over it.

There is a row of Lilac bushes out here and I have counted 12-13 of them with leaves and several of them are getting flowers on them.  They are around 2 feet tall or so, so it will be several years before they get really pretty .  But if we can keep them all watered, it will be really pretty on the north side of the house.

Another reason I love living out in the country is.... We grew up in SW Oklahoma and we always had Air Force Planes flying over our house.  Well, we have Air Force Planes from New Mexico that fly here and being behind the Airport the planes and jets are always flying over head.  :)

Until next week.
