Isaiah 9:6

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Luke 2 :2-20

2 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

² (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
³ And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
⁴ And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

 

⁵ To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
⁶ And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
⁷ And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
⁸ And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
⁹ And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

 

 ¹⁰ And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
¹² And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
¹³ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

 

¹⁴ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
¹⁵ And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
¹⁶ And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

¹⁷ And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
¹⁸ And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
¹⁹ But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
²⁰ And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Thanksgiving History – The Thanksgiving Proclamation
New York, 3 October 1789

By the President of the United States of America: a Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor--and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me `to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.'

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be -- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks -- for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted -- for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions--to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually -- to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn [sic] kindness onto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord -- To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease [sic] of science among them and us -- and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

We Have a Red Barn !!!

     The barn at The Ranch has finally gotten its coat of paint.  (There is no telling how long it has been since this barn was painted.) When we moved out here close to 3 years ago we said we wanted to paint it Red.  Well, here it is. The Red is finished. Just have to paint the rest of the white.  I cant wait til it is all finished.

     The Goobers! Chickens, Ducks, Geese and Guineas. Oh My!
    Everyone is in the chicken house now except for the last mother hen and her 2 babies and the guinea and hen that are crippled.  They will be the Rabbit Barn mascots.
     As I sit here typing this, I am looking out the window and there are chickens and guineas everywhere.  

!

  Oh Fred No!  About a month ago we had a gopher make its way onto our property.  Every since , it has been Fred's mission to get it.  There are lots of BIG holes out there. But he still has not gotten the gopher.

Been a Busy and Sad Summer

    We lost a very good friend in May.  Robin our dog we had for almost 17 years died. We had gotten her when she was 8 weeks old.
     On the Friday before one of our sons dogs died unexpectedly.  So Robin and Blaze started the pet cemetery in the back. The other stone is for my dog Jenny that died several years ago.

     We have also seen and had to kill several Rattlesnakes this year. One bit our dog Fred No on the nose.  He had his Rattlesnake vaccine.  We treated him with ways we found on the internet and after 2 weeks , he was back to normal. We never did find that snake. But by the looks of the bite it was probably around 5 ft.

     This Rattle snake decided it was going to be in our barn.  No Way! I was walking in the barn to check on the chickens when this one rattled at me.  If he had not he may have bitten me.
     Then when Brent was mowing he went over another one and Fred No found him and almost got bit. It sure did scare him and us also. It was about 3ft long and Brent almost did not see him.

     Was not happy to find this big guy in our chicken house eating the duck eggs. This one was a Bull snake.

     We also lost our kitty Fluffy.  We went on vacation and when we came back she was gone.  We are thinking she may have been bit by a rattlesnake and died. She liked to hunt around the shooting berm. That is where Fred was bitten.

     We also have a new dog. We got her in July.  Her name is Coco.  She is still learning some things , but is a good fit to the Ranch.

     About a month or so back We received a lot of rain.  We had water standing for about a week on our place. I cannot remember how much.  The ducks and geese really did like it all.
